Abstract

|
Despite continuous increase in medical disputes, open discussion by medical providers about problems of medical malpractices has been put under a taboo due to social recognition or legal and institutional obstacles, thus practical data of the scale, type, result, and solution of such medical malpractices during medical service are being accumulated to a very insufficient degree in Korea.
Based on this background, this study was attempted to prevent similar forms of medical dispute from occurrence and provide fundamental data to prepare reasonable dispute resolution system by analyzing the current status of medical disputes and the trend.
As study material, the dispute cases from major 5 medical departments of internal medicine, orthopedics, dentistry, obstetrics and gynecology, and plastic surgery were selected among the medical dispute cases which had been raised to KCA for relief of medical malpractices in a year of 2006.
